First… tell us a bit about you:

Hi, I’m Jen, The Trusted Traveller. I’ve been travelling most of my life, but it wasn’t until 2009 that the travel bug really started to bite. Images and stories from the adventures of family and friends around the world inspired me to sell my house in Sydney, put my belongings in storage and take off to Europe. This eventually led to a few years living and working in London, exploring Europe as much as I could. Since then my husband Mick and I have visited over 20 countries on four continents with many more trips planned for the future.  My website, The Trusted Traveller, is all about inspiring and informing fellow travellers and travel dreamers to get out there and see the world through travel planning advice, destination guides and blog posts of my experiences around the world.

What do you prefer?

Mountain vs Coast
Coast, on a sun lounger, with a good book in one hand and a cocktail in the other.

Charter vs Self organized
Self organized for sure. I’m ridiculously organised in every area of my life and find the planning and booking process almost as fun as the travel itself sometimes.

Summer vs Winter
I do love Summer but I love Spring even more. Great weather, beautiful flowering gardens and signs that summer is on its way.

London vs Paris
London! Vibrant, cultural, beautiful, exciting, it’s the whole package for me.

Beach vs City
I’m a born and bred city girl who lived on the beach so this one is definitely 50/50.

Hostel vs Hotel
Hostel for sure. Not only is it cheaper but in most cases you get better inclusions and the opportunity to meet other like-minded travellers.

Explore on your own vs Guided tour
It depends on the amount of time I have. If I have just two weeks to see a country or region then a tour is a great option. But if I have a month or more then I prefer to explore on my own and really take my time.

Beach vs Pool
Pool to swim in, beach to walk along.

Asia vs Europe
I love Europe. The history, culture and architecture are all amazing.

Taxi vs Public transport
Definitely public transport. It’s more adventurous and cheaper making my travel money stretch further.

Backpack vs Suitcase
Backpack for sure.  I’m much more mobile with a backpack especially when navigating public transport.

Planning vs Spontaneity
I wish I could say spontaneity but every fibre of my body won’t let me not plan things before.

Australia vs USA
Australia! My home, need I say more.

RV vs Tent
I’d love to do a big road trip around Australia in an RV one day.

Cruise vs Road trip
Some of my favourite travel experiences have been on road trips whereas I get very seasick.

Snorkeling vs Scuba
My biggest fear is not being able to breath so this one is definitely snorkelling. I would like to give scuba a go one day but I’m not sure I could handle it.

And at last, what is your favorite (travel) quote?

‘I haven’t been everywhere but it’s on my list’. – Susan Sontag
