First, we just have to apologize that we have been a little absent, but we “spontaneously” bought a new apartment, and with that it becomes so much we need to arrange. We’ll take over the new apartment the September the 1st, and we also have to sell the old one as fast as possible. So cross your fingers for us!

But here at least is another interview in our series This vs That.

In today’s post you meet Kelly Rodriguez Blog: A Lovely Life, Indeed.

First… tell us a bit about you:
My name is Kelly, and my blog is A Lovely Life, Indeed. My husband and I currently live in the Boston area and also, part time in Galicia, Spain. We are working on our plan to retire, travel around the world, and eventually split our time between the United States, Spain, Uruguay, and hopefully, Paris. I write about travel, love, food, wellness, and my own musings on life. Join me. It is a lovely life, indeed.

Then over to This vs That

Mountain vs Coast Coast
While there is beauty to be found at both, for me, I find serenity at the sea. My husband would agree. Luckily, both Boston and La Coruña are coastal.

Charter vs Self organized
We self organize. We try to have a tentative plan, but don’t set a rigid itinerary. We do a bit of research before hand to help plan a budget and develop our own list of must-sees and dos, but beyond that, we’re DIYers.

Summer vs Winter
If I had to choose between the two, summer is, by far, my preference. However, if given my choice among the four seasons, I much prefer spring and autumn. Neither my husband nor I are fan of extremes.

London vs Paris
Paris AND London. Like a mother who will not choose a favorite child, I cannot choose a favorite city. They are among my favorites.

Beach vs City
Beach AND city. They serve different needs.

Hostel vs Hotel
I would choose a mix of both. If we are staying longer, we would investigate a sublet and live like a local.

Explore on your own vs Guided tour
Like the answer to the charter versus self organized question, we are travel DIYers. However, we have been known to do a hop-on/hop-off tour to familiarize ourselves with a city. Or, if we have a very short stay, this type of guided tour provides a great city overview and launch pad for the next visit.

Beach vs Pool
Beach and pool…I love the ambiance of the beach and I love the crystal clear water and smell of chlorine in our pool. Like the city versus the beach question, each serves a different need.

Asia vs Europe
We haven’t made it to Asia yet (it’s on the list), so Europe is the answer to this question.

Taxi vs Public transport
Public transportation is the only answer for us. We like to live like a local, whenever possible, so public transport it is. It provides a great opportunity to talk with people and see how they live.

Backpack vs Suitcase
When I was younger, my backpack went everywhere with me. And it still serves as a carry-on today. But I am enjoying the ease with which my rolling bag moves.

Planning vs Spontaneity
Planning AND spontaneity…each provides an amazing experience. You have to be open minded and make each trip yours.

Australia vs USA
Australia AND the USA. We have not yet visited Australia. It’s on the list. But we do want to do a complete road trip of the US and Canada. And ideally, South America as well.

RV vs Tent
I would vote for the tent, but I think my husband would vote for the RV. Can we compromise and have time in both?

Cruise vs Road trip
Road trip.

Snorkeling vs Scuba
I would do both. I am PADI certified; my husband is not. He would be waiting for me at the bar.

And at last, what is your favorite (travel) quote?
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain
