2017 wasn’t a good blogging year for us, but it’s hard to keep up and stay motivated when you try to get back in the game after a break and your posts only reach a few percent of all our followers. But we will try to write some more blog posts from our previous travels and keep the blog and social media pages up and running.
So every like, share and comment are highly appreciated! 🙂
Now, lets take a look back at the travel year of 2017!
We started the year with a bang in March, when we flew down to Kigali in Rwanda to start our three week long adventure through Uganda and Kenya to Tanzania. After a couple of days on our own in Kigali we joined a group tour with Tucan Travel, and luckily for us it was a small group of just 12 people including the two of us.
It was such a great trip with lots of wildlife encounters and other experiences. Highlights worth mentioned: Gorilla trekking in Uganda, be surrounded by several lionesses, spotting the Leopard (not only one but three), getting close to cheetahs AND the scary moment when meeting hyenas on the walk back to the tent (one of them crossed the path just 1 (ONE) meter away).
In June I was surprised with a birthday trip just one day before departure, where I got to know the destination on the very same day. We spent both of our birthdays on Cyprus, and it couldn’t have been a better way to celebrate my 30th birthday. Included in the surprise was a beginner surfing lesson (bucket list item check!). We also rented a car for a whole day to explore some more on our own.
5 months later, in November, we were back on a flight again, on our way to a continent we had never been before: South America. We spent almost three weeks traveling around southern Peru, including a few days in the Amazon.
The New Year’s Weekend was spent at 78° north in Longyearbyen on the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard where we tried dog sledding and climbed a mountain to visit an ice cave.
Stats of 2017
– 15 flights (4 domestic and 11 international)
– 59.462 km (1.5x around Earth)
– 81 h 43 min (3.4 days)
– with 5 different airlines
– 6 new countries
– 1 new continent
And we spent time in 10 different airports around the world.
In total we have visited 46 countries together in 6,5 years.
