In the middle of 2014 we announced that we had plans for a trip to Africa in early 2015, but we had to postpone this plan to the end of the year instead.
Year 2014 was over and we had to start planning some trips in 2015. No place “spoke to us,” and we struggled to find the right place to go. After some thinking (actually one evening) we decided to take a little over three weeks vacation around Easter time (to exploit the holidays) and go to Africa after all.
Before we met Jon went on a overland trip in southern Africa, a three week long camping trip. And since the day we met we have talked about going back, together. But because of some issues we didn’t want to go on a “simple” camping trip as he did, and found the perfect trip; an accommodated camping overland tour with Sunway Safaris.
In one of the first weekends in January we went on Norway’s largest travel fair, and talked to a nice lady who worked for a Norwegian company (Hibiscus Reiser) who cooperate with Sunway Safari, and we were convinced that this was the trip for us.
The day after we decided that a trip to Africa was the right thing to do we sent her an email, and a few hours later we had booked the trip.
Holy moly, 2015’s first trip goes to Africa, and we really can’t wait!
On March 14th we fly down to Cape Town where we will have a few days on our own before the tour starts. Then we’re heading on a group tour north through Namibia and Botswana to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
As I wrote, Jon has already visited these countries on a tour like this, but this will be a new continent and four new countries, together. And we’re both looking forward to share this adventure with each other.
Something you want to recommend for us to do whilst we’re in Cape Town?
So yep, this year starts with a bang, and then we’ll see what the rest of the year brings.
