Near Puerto Morelos, in the middle of the Riviera Maya (Mexico) you’ll find this small zoo, originally a croc farm, but now they have some other animals too. It’s not crowded and filled up with people, and you will be guided through the park in a small group. In this post we’ll let you know a bit about Crococun Zoo.
Now you wonder why you have to join a guided tour. It’s a simple answer to that question, because you will interact with the animals. You will be able to touch, hold and feed great variety of wild local animals; and you can walk among crocodiles, if you’re brave enough…
You will get the chance to hold a baby croc, get a snake wrapped around your neck as a tie, feed wild spider monkeys (they come to the zoo because of the food), pet Mexican (hairless) dogs and feed the lovely deer (you can even pet them too), and before you leave the park you get kissed by a parrot.
The tour takes about 60-70 minutes, and the experience cost $30 US (for children from 6 to 12y its 20$, and 0-5 its free).
The park is open everyday from 9am to 5pm. And you can get there by Taxi, bus or minivan.
Before you go you should let them know you’re coming (the hotel did that for us just right before we got in the taxi), because of the guided tour.
It is also possible to get something to eat from their little café, and of course there is a souvenir shop there.
